“I don’t feel like I’m on my own anymore!”

Over thirty people made their way to the first ever Social Vision Connects at the Micklegate Social [7th December 2018]. We welcomed a real mix of people in York from all backgrounds and sectors who are passionate about improving the city, for us and our children. There were entrepreneurs and innovators, funders and commissioners, local charities, small businesses and councillors.

We had no agenda or format, and that’s how we like it. Our plan was pretty simple: put like-minded people in a room together, and see what happens! We knew it would be interesting and ideas would spark. So we were so excited to see details being swapped, meetings being arranged, and seeds of new projects starting to develop.

One entrepreneur in the music industry said: “I don’t feel like I’m on my own anymore”. Another piece of feedback was “I know a lot of people who would benefit from coming here.”

Most people loved the informal atmosphere and the positive vibes.

In fact the feedback was so positive we had to assure everyone we would host another…so for all of you who would like to give it a try, the next one is Friday 18th January, same time, same place – 8.30am at the Micklegate Social.

Don’t make a big deal of it, just drop in casually on the way to the office or after the school run, bring a friend or colleague, and simply meet, network and connect with like-minded people. Stay as long as you like, or just pop your head in and say ‘Hi’. It’s what we’re all about, and it’s what we love doing – you never know where that quick meet might take you…..
