Little Bites Cookery is a social enterprise that runs cookery classes for 2.5 yrs and upwards in the East area of York.
Its founder, Penelope Henderson set up Little Bites cookery because there was nothing in York that teaches children to cook nutritious food from a young age.
Penelope, an Award Winner of UnLtd, the foundation of social entrepreneurs started the venture over two years ago. As a parent and qualified nutritionist, she has become particularly concerned with an increasing trend of childhood obesity and poor dietary habits and therefore has set out the vision of ‘making nutrition fun’ through teaching vital cookery skills in a fun way.
“I am really passionate about making a difference to young people’s diets and believe it is so important to capture them at an early age, whilst learning about new tastes and textures it can really make a difference to their dietary habits long term”.
The social aims of Little Bites are to increase confidence and ability in cookery skills whilst improving nutrition and well being. Little Bites is looking for opportunities within York to work with nurseries, schools and other groups/organisations to increase social impact.
