For four days over April (Sat 14th/Sun 15th, Sat 21st/Sun 22nd) York’s creativity blossoms as artists from around the city open the doors of their studios to exhibit, talk about and sell their work.
York Open Studios is a great opportunity for anyone to visit artists within their workspaces and catch several exhibitions to get a feel for the talent in the city and buy some art.
Over 120 artists and makers including painters, jewellers, ceramicists, sculptors, print makers, photographers, illustrators and textile artists are all represented at this annual community arts festival.
Venues range from historic landmarks to local shops, living rooms to garden sheds, but at each one the actual artists themselves are present, ready to welcome you and show off their work in person.
A detailed map and directory can be picked up at many city centre venues (libraries, shops and galleries) so you can look through, choose where to go on foot, on your bike or in your car and make up your own art tour.
I am going with my mum this year, and I cannot wait!
