Hoping street kitchen shoebox appeal

The idea is simple; you get a shoebox (or any old box or bag), fill it with some basic everyday essential items, and treats, if you can afford to. Put in a card, or even a letter and drop it into a collection point to pass on to a homeless person in the city this Christmas.

This is the Shoebox appeal that Hoping Street Kitchen, the people regularly providing hot meals for homeless people in Kings Square, have launched. Giving just that bit extra to help everyone have a better Christmas.

Here is the list of items that could go in your shoebox (please label the box with size & sex of clothes) :

Underpants/Knickers
Hats & Gloves
Socks
Baby Wipes
Deodorant or Soap
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Chocolate (long sell by date)
Hand Warmers
Sanitary Towels (if ladies)
Talcum Powder
Seasonal Card, note or even a short letter
Puzzle books / Book
Seasonal gift

NB: No alcohol based products (mouthwash, hand sanitiser) or razors

Hand your box to the following Collection Points before 8th December:

Gap Outlet, Designer Outlet, York, YO19 4TA
York Marriott Hotel, Tadcaster Road, YO24 1QQ
