York Mind have partnered up with local charity, Move the Masses, for them to deliver twice weekly pop-up workouts in parks throughout the city, to people on their wellbeing activities programme.
Starting this month, with a weekly session in Homestead Park every Monday at 2pm and then a Wednesday afternoon session at different parks each week, the workouts will teach participants how to exercise in their local open space without the need for any additional equipment
Egg Cameron, founder of Move the Masses explained the thinking behind the sessions
“We know that physical activity helps to manage stress, low mood, anxiety and depression. It also helps with cardiovascular health, improving muscle tone and prevents the onset of many diseases and health conditions. Exercising, especially in the fresh air, does so much for your mental wellbeing as well as your physical wellbeing”
“We love getting people moving and we want everyone to love moving too!”
The sessions are for all ability levels and have an informal and fun feel. A participant can do as much or as little as they like, or even just come along and observe.
Monday sessions are at 2pm at Homestead Park in Clifton over a 12 week period, between the 8th July and 30th September (excluding the August bank holiday). Enrolment for these workouts are purely through York Mind. You can attend weekly, or on a drop in basis. Sign up here
