Bereaved Children Support York
Post: Children and Young People’s Bereavement Practitioner
Hours: Variable/Sessional
Salary: Pay £15-£20 per hour (depending on experience)
Based: York (Within City of York Council boundary)
Would you like to join a committed team of bereavement practitioners in York supporting bereaved children, young people and their families?
Established in 2016, Bereaved Children Support York is a fast growing, local charity that seeks to support bereaved children and young people in York so they are better able to cope with the impact of grief on their lives. We are committed to providing high quality, therapeutic support to bereaved children, young people and their families.
We are looking to recruit experienced bereavement practitioners, on a self-employed, sessional basis, to provide a variety of therapeutic interventions to help children and young people cope with the impact of the death of someone significant in their lives.
This service launched in October 2018 and the demand for this service has grown steadily as it has become more widely known. We aim to tailor the support we offer to meet the needs of the children, therefore flexibility is essential as many of the children and young people prefer to be seen at school, but some evening and weekend working may also be required.
Work available will be dependent on the number of referrals received.
You will have:
A good understanding of, and the ability to be at ease with, the experience and consequences of bereavement.
A recognised health, social care, counselling or similar qualification with experience of working with bereaved children, young people and their families.
Evidence of continued professional development
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently build and maintain good relationships with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Flexibility, including daytime, evening and weekend working as required.
A clean driving licence and use of a car for business purposes.
An enhanced DBS check will be required.
