We all know the score – kids these days seem to want screens all too often. And we are also well aware that it just isn’t good for them.
So what is the alternative?
How about getting back to the basics? How about letting off steam in the woods? How about building dens, getting creative, making campfires and climbing trees.
How about making friends for life?
Get out More, a Yorkshire based Community Interest Company, are running two days of forest fun in Acomb woods on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd August during the summer holidays.
Aimed at primary school children (between 5 and 11), this child led experience involves all sorts of activities run by experienced Forest School leaders.
Whilst having fun and making friends the kids are also learning through play, building up life skills without even realising; team building, problem solving and negotiation.
What’s more, the good people at Get Out More are offering Social Vision News readers a 15% discount off a 2 day place on the York programme this summer with the promotional code SocialVision15. Perhaps it is time to book?
All we can say is:
‘Farewell screens, let’s go wild!’
PS There are also volunteer opportunities for adults, and if you sign up, your kids come free!
