SASH is a local charity which prevents youth homelessness in York, all of North and East Yorkshire. SASH owns no property but rely on volunteers with a spare room, our ‘hosts’, who can provide accommodation and support to 16-25 year olds who are facing homelessness. This can be on a short terms basis of up to 2 weeks or long term for up to 2 years and we provide full training and support throughout.
We urgently need more hosts. If you are interested in hosting, or know someone who is please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Want to support but being a Host isn’t your thing? Why not partake in our Sleepout, which takes place on the 9th and 10th March at Tang Hall Community Centre and participants will spend the night outside with just sleeping bags, cardboard and plastic for protection. Helping to draw public attention to the hidden problem of youth homelessness and raise funds for vulnerable young people facing homelessness. Throughout the evening there will also be refreshments, live music, workshops, a best shelter competition and breakfast in the morning.
