Social Vision recently caught up with Phil and Helen from the MyCastleGateway project. Here’s a little information:
When City of York Council decided to look at comprehensive improvements to the Castle Gateway area, they took a new route by getting Helen Graham & Phil Bixby of My Future York to design and deliver the community engagement programme.
This started with the fundamentals – what was important about the place, and what did people want to do there – and used walks, workshops, talks and events to open up the area, to explore the challenges which became apparent as priorities became clear, and to engage with the masterplan proposals.
Web, social media, and Post-Its were combined using Flickr to ensure that all public input was handled transparently.
