Carecent provides breakfast, clothing and friendship to homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded people in the centre of York. They’ve been running for over 30 years, and are open six mornings a week, Monday – Saturday 8.30am till 10.45am including Bank Holidays. They’re situated at Central Methodist Church on St Saviourgate.

Social Vision caught up with Project Leader Nicky Gladstone to find out about some exciting recent developments:

We’ve recently had a huge renovation, and now we have a bright new dining area, better kitchen facilities and best of all, toilets and a shower so that people can come in, get clean clothes and a shower, a hot meal, and leave feeling altogether brighter. We also work with partner agencies across York providing advice with housing, health and other needs, and our volunteers are always ready to offer support with form filling and telephone calls – or just a cup of tea and a chat! We’re thrilled with our new look and new facilities!

If you’d like to find out more about Carecent, or get involved, you can visit www.carecent.org or call 01904 848770
