Homestart in York run a number of referral-only groups geared specifically towards parents who are socially isolated, anxious or struggling with their mental health following the birth of their baby.

If a new parent is feeling that they may need a bit of friendly support they can visit Homestart’s website at homestartyork.org.uk in the first instance, where there is a lot of information and also a self-referral form.

Homestart’s groups are small (even smaller now due to COVID), friendly groups for Mums and their little ones. The sessions are relaxed and informal where Mums get to talk and share experiences over a cup of tea and a biscuit. Some of the Mums are supported by a volunteer to come to the group, as they build their confidence and develop friendships.

As well as their brand new Clifton group they also run groups in Acomb and Tang Hall. Over lockdown they have been running Zoom groups but  have gradually moved into socially distanced meet ups and buggy walk and talks.

The new group at Clifton is being run at The Youth Hostel on Clifton Bridge every Wednesday, for more information please contact beth@homestartyork.org
