Local community venue The Red Tower are seeking new Directors with expertise in Event Management, Community Engagement and IT. Director Mike Calvert explains:

Following the tragic death of Director Simon Perry, and as we consider the challenging times ahead, as we look to returning to be in a position to reopen our door and once again serve the community, the Red Tower CIC is looking to strengthen its management team.

The Red Tower, completely refurbished as a community hub, is a 500-yr old brick-built watchtower on the City Walls. As such, it combines community with heritage and reaches out to the local community and beyond. It provides a centre for a pay-as-you-feel café to help fight food poverty and surplus supermarket food distribution, a community meeting place in an interesting historical building and is involved in a range of community projects working closely with City of York Council and a range of third sector organisations and volunteers.

Mike continues:

We are looking to increase the number of Directors and the pool of expertise that we can draw on. We welcome interest from local people generally but especially those with expertise in event management, community engagement and IT.
