York People First, the local self advocacy group run by people with learning disabilities for people with learning disabilities, is holding a Self Advocacy ‘Open Mic’ Meeting on Monday 12 July between11-1pm, at Folk Hall, New Earswick, York, YO32 4AQ.

A Self Advocacy Open Mic is a safe space to speak up about, share, and listen to things that are important to people with learning difficulties in York.

At the meeting they will talk about; What is self advocacy? What barriers do people with learning difficulties in York face? What needs to change?

They will pass the ‘Mic’ round for people to share and speak up about things important to them. The meeting is for people with learning difficulties and their ‘allies’ too.  There will also be a free lunch!

If you are unable to make it in person, you can join by Zoom video link.  Let York People First know if you want to do this and they will send you the link.

As everyone needs to stay safe at the meeting, places are limited, and they will ask people to follow some social distance guidance when in the room.  Please do not attend in person if on the day you have any Covid-19 symptoms.

If you would like to come along, please let York People First know via email at speakingup@yorkpeoplefirst.co.uk or call or text Stephen on 07951050153.
