The workers at the NHS are risking their lives for us.
We must acknowledge this and adhere to some very simple rules.
- We must stay at home, except for the most essential requirements (food and medicine) and self exercise at a distance.
- We must regularly wash our hands thoroughly.
- We must stop stockpiling food, so there is food on the shelves for them and their families.
There are now various supportive offers to NHS workers coming into place, which it feels right to share.
Some supermarkets are doing NHS-only hours country wide, some York take aways are offering discounts and free food for hospital staff, and one local boarding kennel is even offering to look after your pet for free.
Here is a round up details we have seen (correct at time of going to press):
SUPERMARKETS
Tesco: From this Sunday, and every following Sunday, all Tesco stores (except Express stores) will prioritise a 9am browsing hour for NHS workers before checkouts open.
Morrisons: Introducing an NHS hour at all their stores at the beginning of every day, Monday to Saturday from 7am to 8am and a Morrisons colleague will be on the door to let staff with an NHS badge in
Asda: Prioritising NHS workers in larger stores every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am to 9am
Aldi & Lidl: Have both introduced a 4 item per shopper rule, which means their shelves are generally stocked
