A shout out on social media to support 90 Asylum Seekers with men’s clothing and puzzles brought an amazing response Refugee Action York told me, but they still need unlocked phones and chargers.

We are overwhelmed by York’s generosity and are in the process of passing on your donations to those most in need.

Have you got an old smartphone tucked a way in a drawer you could pass on?

The Asylum Seekers would really benefit from access to a smartphone because it enables them to:

  • make contact with their family
  • access translated information and updates about Covid
  • start to access support such as English classes

Phones need to be in working order, unlocked, with no passwords, and ideally wiped (factory settings restored).

There are several drop-off points across the city, including Fulford, Tang Hall, Haxby, and Elvington. Please email info@refugeeactionyork.com or text 07545060694 for the location of your nearest drop-off point.
