This week is Independent Venue Week, a chance to celebrate the live music venues we have in the city and catch excellent local musicians, some national up-and-coming bands and some absolute stars.

There are shows across the city at small and larger venues alike, with over 50 performers and 24 shows lined up.

Perhaps you want to take in an intimate The Howl and the Hum session at Forty Five Vinyl Cafe or see Young Thugs ‘one to watch’ Bull at The Crescent?

The Arts Barge are out in force too and Slam Poetry promoters Say Owt are down in the Basement.

Mark Morriss of The Bluetones plays at the excellent Fulford Arms at the close of the week.

Anyway, we are sure you have your own ideas of what you want to see, but get involved, support your venues, promoters and local bands.

Enjoy.
