United Response Training Employment and Community (URTEC) service in York have recently been commissioned by the City of York Council & Department Work and Pensions to provide personalised specialist support to adults with learning and physical disabilities, autism and mental health needs to gain paid employment within the city of York. This is known as Supported Employment.

United Response Supported Employment service will support 94 individuals spread across an 18 month period, with the hope to extend, with individuals matched to a job coach to help fulfil their employment aspiration.

The Job Coach will also research the local job market and contact employers that best match the individual’s interest and skills to secure job placements and paid employment.

Previously United Response have helped people to secure paid work and voluntary positions in York Minster, Costa Coffee Company, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Fenwick Department Store, HMV, National Railway Museum and McDonalds, as well as a wide range of local small to medium employers.
