Social Vision’s Space Invaders project has teamed up with local artisans Nelson Bakery and York Candle Company to take over the former Minster Van Hire forecourt on Micklegate.

The space is now open to the public, with an intimate jungle-themed coffee shop, and a forecourt with an amazing selection of local independent retailers. Joe said:

This is my favourite place for people watching and grabbing a coffee on my lunch break. I love Micklegate as a street, commute up and down it every day and this really injects some extra life and creativity into what is already a vibrant street of independent retailers.

With the Christmas markets cancelled, this is a much needed opportunity for local makers and artisans to exhibit their wares. I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to support these independents.

Open 7 days a week (9am – 4pm), be sure to pop by for Christmas gifts, amazing cakes and coffee; whilst supporting local creatives.

And if you’re a local maker who would like a stall, prices are £10/day weekdays and £20/day weekends. There’s quite a waiting list as you’d expect, but contact yorkshireartisans@gmail.com to enquire.

You’ll find us at the old Minster Van Hire building next to Micklegate bar, and on Facebook and Instagram
