Social Vision’s Joe Gardham says:

Over £700,000 is being spent bringing consultants to York to understand what York residents want and how York is ‘branded’ to tourists. These consultations attract and ask people with the means to be in the city centre and the confidence to articulate their opinions. But I’m conscious there are tens of thousands of people across York who won’t have their voice heard. We will be out in communities talking to real people, who may currently feel detached from their city, or who feel their voice is not relevant or respected.

Social Sofa will take the discussion out into our communities, and in Series One we’ll be asking two very straightforward questions:- “What do you love about York? And what would you change?

Our first Social Sofa will be on Acomb Front Street on Saturday 13th July, 10am – 12pm.

The videos will be published on youtube and social media, and future series will cover topics such as young people, independent business and getting around the city. If you’d like Social Sofa to come to your area, or feature a topic that matters to you, contact joe@social-vision.org.uk
