Words from a bench is a lovely initiative from Rowntree Park inviting short story writers and poets to submit stories/poems of up to 1000 words, based around the park, the outdoors, nature or ‘escape’.

A selection of the stories will be chosen and then benches around the park will have a QR code so people enjoying the park can click a code and read an uplifting story or poem, adding an extra interesting element to people’s daily exercise.

The work will also be available for a wider audience to enjoy online.

This project  ran before in 2014/2015 and the park are keen to restart it, particularly in lockdown when people might find heightened inspiration for creative pursuits.

Open to all ages, including children, send your entries before the 15th of February to hello@rowntreepark.org.uk
