Local community group Yourcafe is offering 2 carrier bags of food to anyone that needs it, straight after Christmas from their one-off storehouse, Luke’s Larder.

The Larder is in St Luke’s Church Hall on Shipton Street (just off Burton Stone Lane) where anyone can pop along between 10am and 12 Noon on the 27th, 28th and 29th December and give a pay-as-you feel donation (however big or small) for food.

The produce is being donated by the local supermarkets and businesses across York and would otherwise be heading for Landfill.

Volunteer run Yourcafe operates a weekly community café in Tang Hall community centre where they intercept perfectly good food from supermarkets and make into delicious pay-as-you-feel meals. It’s a great initiative where the community get together eating great food, making friends and tackling food waste on a local level.

There will be no cafe dates in December,  but they start again every Wednesday from the 5th February. Check out www.yourcafe.co.uk for more details

Luke’s Larder is being supported by York City FC Foundation. The Foundation team would be  interested in hearing from people who have transport and are able to collect donations, and deliver them to St Luke’s Church hall on the evenings of 26th, 27th and 28th December.

Or volunteers who would like to support at the Larder on 27th, 28th or 29th December between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

If you or your organisation would like to support this initiative please contact Paula Stainton, Foundation Manager by emailing paula@yorkcityfcfoundation.co.uk or telephone 01904 559508
