Explore’s Chief Executive, Fiona Williams, has confirmed that she will be keeping some libraries open during the second national lockdown starting 5 November. Fiona said:

Explore’s libraries are an essential service for the people of York. They are essential for keeping people connected through free access to PCs and the internet. And they provide essential and significant support for everyone’s health and wellbeing too with free books, newspapers, and online events to keep people of all ages entertained and informed during these challenging times.

Explore Centres at York, Tang Hall and Acomb will be open from Tuesday to Saturday starting from 10 November for pre-booked appointments with access to PCs and printers and pre-ordered books for collection. Explore’s cafes at Rowntree Park and Hungate are also open for takeaway service.

All books due back during lockdown will be renewed automatically.
