Planet Food and Street Cleaver are joining forces to bring the first Supper Club in York made entirely from food otherwise destined for landfull. We caught up with Beverley from Planet Food to tell us more :
Planet Food; The Real Junk Food York will be collaborating with Chef Mark Hill from Street Cleaver and Born To Lose Burgers to bring together our very first evening event – The Supper Club on Friday 12th July at Clements Hall, Clementhorpe from 7.30pm-10.30pm.
On the back of our successful pay-as-you-feel café, using surplus produce from supermarkets and local traders we’ve been creating healthy, delicious dishes for over 6 months. We wanted to show case what we do best, using ‘waste’ food otherwise destined for landfill and invite some of the community who can’t make our day time café to share a meal.
We’re so excited to have Mark on board. He’s probably one of the most inventive and talented chefs in York at the moment, and who better to create a really interesting, delicious 3 course dinner than him? He won’t know what fresh produce we manage to intercept that week, so it will be a real ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ challenge for him.
The candle lit evening will be held at Clements Hall, reservations can be made via Eventbrite.
Green Bean Project are serving and demonstrating their direct trade coffee and we’ll have guests speakers discussing food waste and recycling. It’s going to be a special evening with the emphasis on eating your way to zero waste!
Planet Food’s pay-as-you-feel cafe is at Southlands Church on Bishopthorpe Road between 10am and 2pm every Thursday.
