Most of you will be aware by now of the exciting, huge masterplan for York's Coney Street. The scheme would see a huge redevelopment of the whole street, opening up the riverside and creating a new walkway and public space. We know that ambitious schemes sometimes alienate or exclude certain communities, so it's so nice to see local developer Helmsley Group holding an Accessibility Forum to capture the views, concerns and needs of York's diverse communities.

The drop-in session is taking place for those with accessibility queries to attend at the Hilton in York on Tuesday 9th May from noon until 8pm.

From Helmsley Group:

Open to all with Equality Act protected characteristics and specifically aimed at people who have physical, mobility, cognitive, sensory or neurodivergent, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion or belief differences, the event invites attendees to review the masterplan and leave their feedback.

Presentations will take place throughout the day with a site tour at 5pm. There is also the opportunity to ask any questions to the representatives attending from the Helmsley Group, Vincent & Brown Architects, and accessibility consultants Jane Simpson Access and Access Included.

Accessible parking is available opposite the Hilton at Castle Street car park. To ensure the event can be attended by all, it will be held on the ground floor of the Hilton. Alternative formats such as BSL interpretation, palantypists, Braille and large-print text can be made available on request and should be submitted with any questions to helen@access-included.co.uk
